Complete Stand-Alone Solar Electric Power Systems

The example solar electric systems listed below were primarily designed for remote cabins, boats or similar off-grid uses. For a solar or wind powered electric system specifically made for your needs don’t hesitate to drop us an e-mail. We will work with your contractor or architect to develop specifications for your specific needs.

We use only the best quality UL® solar panel in yardlisted equipment. All power sources and circuits are equipped with fuses, breakers, or disconnects to help insure safety and reliability. Always follow your local building and NEC codes and the advice of your city/County electrical inspector.

To determine which system is right for you, you’ll need to determine what your power requirements are. See the Calculators page or let us help you. You’ll also need to know the average full sun hours for your geographic location. Full sun hours are equivalent to kW/hrs/meter² on the maps…

The systems listed here are simple basic systems but can be expanded upon at any time. To estimate your power needs follow the links below to calculators. A system can be custom designed to meet any energy need. For help email us.

Multiply your area’s average full sun hours by the systems rated output to find your average watt hours of electricity you will generate per average day.

Like: 106 watts (Rated output) X 4.5 hours (full sun hours/day) = 477 watt hours (per day average before adjusting for system losses).

  • Remote Power System 1 DC: Rated array output of 106 watts, designed for small DC loads. Averages ~ $1,249
  • Remote Power System 1 DC Deluxe: Rated array output of 106 watts, with DC control center. Averages ~ $1,589
  • Remote Power System 2 DC: Rated array output of 240 watts, for small to medium DC loads. Averages ~ $2,997
  • Remote Power System 3 DC: Rated array output of 360 watts, for medium size DC loads. Averages ~ $4,369
  • Remote Power System 2 AC: Rated array output of 240 watts, with AC inverter for small loads. Averages ~ $3,789
  • Remote Power System 3 AC: Rated array output of 360 watts, with a 2000 watt AC inverter. Averages ~ $6,197
  • Remote Power System 4 AC: Rated array output of 480 watts, with a 2500 watt AC inverter/charger. Averages ~ $6,948
  • Remote Power System 5 AC: Rated array output of 600 watts, with a 2500 watt AC inverter/charger. Averages ~ $8,876

Designed to run a few lights or other small DC equipment these packages come with all the major components for installation-modules, mounting racks, interconnects, batteries, controls, and fuse panel.

*Check local building and NEC codes for any additional system requirements for your area.

There is great care taken in the design of our pre-packaged solar electric power systems. There is no room to compromise when comfort and safety are concerned, only a qualified contractor should install electrical generation equipment. Whether you are qualified to tackle the installation yourself or have your contractor and electrician do it for you, it is as simple as one, two, three. If questions arise you can always contact us for help.

The example systems above include a relatively small battery bank. A battery bank in a stand alone system without a fossil fuel back-up generator ideally should have the capacity to meet your load requirements for as many days as you can expect overcast days in a row plus at least a 20% reserve to prevent battery damage from over discharge.

We also supply many other custom solar kits using various manufacturer’s brands of solar panels. Contractors contact us for current equipment pricing.

Complete Stand-Alone Solar Electric Power Systems

The solar electric energy systems on this page are examples of our complete stand-alone solar power systems complete with the charge controllers, disconnects, & an inverter, mounted & pre-wired.

We also have systems designed strictly for utility intertie applications that use no batteries and are designed to enable net metering (lowering your power bill) with your utility company. We can work with your contractor or architect for developing specifications on a system for your project.

The budgetary examples below of stand-alone type systems include solar panels ready-to-mount with all mounts & mounting hardware. Batteries are not included. The wiring needed for connecting the modules to the control panel & from the control panel to the batteries is not included. A gas or diesel burning generator may be used with these systems, if desired, to add electricity for days when heavier electrical use than normal occurs. Wind generators may also be used in the same system to boost your power input.

All of our systems’ equipment components are designed to meet NEC (National Electric Code) requirements and use UL® listed system components.

While installing the pre-engineered hardware is straightforward for anyone capable, we can only recommend that you have a qualified electrician connect the wiring. Although it is not overly complicated, the safety factor should always take precedence in proper wiring of any electrical system or appliance. A section of the NEC code is dedicated to photovoltaic systems, and another on DC wiring. The components’ wiring specifications are supplied from the manufacturer on each component. We are capable of designing and handling the installations of the systems we sell world-wide.

Solar modules used in these systems produce DC current and are available in sizes from 80 to 235 watts. Each module is individually tested and labeled with a 20 or 25-year output warranty by their respective manufacturers. These solar panels can be mounted using your choice of roof, ground, or top-of-pole mounts. This hardware system and the modules it supports are rated to withstand winds up to 125 MPH and up to 1 inch hail.

We also design complete solar electric systems using the following brands: Sharp, BP, Shell, Kyocera, and Evergreen. The life expectancy of a solar electric panel is 40+ years.

Your local area’s average full sun hours per day multiplied by the system’s rated output wattage will be close to the average electrical power yield per day. Full sun hours equate to kWH/meter² on these maps. Line and storage system losses must also be calculated-we do that. You can use the link below to find your area’s average full sun hours.

To determine which system is right for you, you’ll need to determine what your power requirements are. See the Calculators page or let us help you. You’ll also need to know the average full sun hours for your geographic location. Full sun hours are equivalent to kW/hrs/meter² on these maps. There are roughly 1,700 available sunlight hours per year in Chattanooga, TN.

If your total AC loads that are to be run simultaneously should exceed the 4000 watt continuous rated output of the inverter we can stack two interfaced for greater peak output capacity. These systems are equipped with one Xantrex SW4000 inverter. An electric-crank fossil-fuel generator may be automatically cranked by a generator controller when a user-determined low battery voltage level is sensed. The inverter has a built-in efficient battery charger that will quickly charge the battery bank from a gas, propane, or diesel generator’s 120 volt output if/when needed. A system can be designed for higher continuous and surge output using larger inverters. The complete power center is now UL® Listed.

If your power requirements are not met by one of these systems, we will be happy to custom design a system to meet your specific needs! See the Calculators page to assist in estimating your energy needs (watt hours per day).

Remember: Rated array output X full sun hours per day equals approximate average watt hours/day production.

Using the most energy efficient appliances available and compact fluorescent lighting is critical to keep your system cost reasonable.

Remember – You can light three rooms with compact fluorescent bulbs using the same electricity as you would to light one room with an average incandescent bulb!
